On the evening of Monday, January 18th at 6:30 PM, New England Running Company, in association with New Balance, will be raffling off one free automatic entry into the 2016 Leadville Trail 100 Run. But you don’t have to be an aspiring ultramarathonner to join in on the fun!
We are excited for the release of New Balance’s newest version of the shoe named after this legendary race, the Leadville 1210v3. This shoe was designed specifically to help runners tackle the terrain and challenges that go along with completing the Leadville 100, and the third version is anticipated to be the best yet. Avid trail runner and Senior Product Manager for the New Balance Global Trail line and Minimus collection, Brendan Murray, will accompany us as well as one of their designers tasked with improving this impressive trail running shoe. They will give us tremendous insight into why the shoe was created as it was and how it can help you on your way to a 100-mile finish at the event labeled “The race across the sky.”
Each August, just under one thousand runners set out to test their mettle in the Rocky Mountains. The Leadville Trail 100 Run has become a challenge epitomized by trail and ultra runners. The race starts and ends in the center of Leadville, Colorado, which sits at 10,152 feet above sea level. The course travels up into the mountains surrounding the town, reaching as high as Hope Pass at 12,600 feet and as low as Twin Lakes at 9,200 feet. The course boasts incredible vistas of mountain passes in addition to the challenge and reward that every endurance athlete seeks. The 2016 edition of the Leadville 100 will take place on Saturday, August 20th. In a lottery that draws from thousands of entrants, some athletes will spend years trying to earn a chance to toe the starting line in Leadville.
With the thrilling launch of the New Balance Leadville 1210v3, we wanted to do something special to celebrate this wonderful shoe. With the generous help of New Balance, we will be raffling off a free bib number into the 2016 Leadville Trail 100 Run (entry fee value is $315)! Participants must be present to receive the prize and lottery entries are non-transferable. We also encourage you to help promote the event on Facebook and Twitter for a chance to receive additional raffle entries in your name.
Even if you don’t plan to enter the lottery, come for a fun trail party! At 6:30 PM on Monday, January 18th, we will gather to learn about why New Balance makes shoes as they do and test some out, enjoy some Leadville-inspired entertainment, and raffle off a free entry into this incredible race!
