New England Running Company Staff: Wes Lassen, Store Manager

Wes's early running days began on Long Island at Huntington High School. During his freshman year Wes joined the indoor track team and soon fell in love with the sport of running. Under the coaching of Dennis Walker, Wes posted high school records of 1:57.3 in the 800m and 4:23 in the 1600m.

After winning two section titles and multiple league conference titles, Wes went on to run all 3 seasons at Hartwick College in upstate New York. Focusing on the middle distance events during his collegiate years, Wes graduated with personal records of 1:53.2 in the 800m, 49.7 in the 400m, and 3:59.6 in the the 1500m. Although Wes never made the cut, he was a three-time provisional qualifier for the NCAA Division 3 National Championships. He won three conference championships in the 800m.

Wes now lives in Gloucester and continues to train for events ranging from the 5k to the ultramarathon. His true love is trail running and in 2003, he placed third in the Stonecat Ale Trail Marathon. Wes can usually be found in Dogtown, Ravenswood, or of course New England Running Company.
