New England Running Company Staff: Dave Geary
Dave has been a runner since the age of 18 when he entered into service for his country by joining the US Army. While being a member of the 101
st
Airborne Division at Ft. Campbell, KY, he was able to log extensive miles during his daily physical training. While stationed there he was able to run for his units XC team in the 10k event. He was able to log many miles in other countries as well to include Egypt, Panama, and South Korea to name a few. After leaving the Army, Dave continued a regimented training program while working as a police officer in Nashville TN.
After his return to Gloucester, MA, in 1997 Dave started his competitive racing. He has run in most of the local races and this year he completed the USTAF Mountain Running Circuit where he was the top open male finishers among the 26 people that completed the entire six race circuit earning him “Top Goat” status. He also logged a PR at the Eliot 5k in the time of 19:15. Dave has competed in half marathons and the Round the Cape 25k race, and he completed the Mount
Washington Race in 2004 in 1:36. He is also an active member of Team Gloucester.
Now that he has turned 40 Dave wants to see if you do get faster as you get older and is planning to run his best in the next few years. He has mainly set his focus on some longer distance races in 2006-- the Mountain Circuit will be on the menu along with MT Washington. When he is not running or working at the store he enjoys cycling as well as hiking and anything in the outdoors and the fresh air.
